VOA launched a mobile news service on Tigo in Ghana and Sierra Leone enabling mobile subscribers to receive daily African and international news headlines from the VOA as an SMS service.

VOA selected the rancardmobility.com platform to aggregates news feeds from voanews.com which are transformed to standard SMS messages compatible with any GSM phone. Rancardmobility.com also provides subscriber management, billing and service discovery functions for the VOA. The service was launched in Ghana to a roaring success and has over a hundred thousand subscriptions.
